TMI
answered the stringent requirements set forth by the
architects and engineers on this project by producing
a thermal break type custom air handling unit for
this new U of M research building. TMI supplied over
30 penthouse type air handlers ranging from 50,000
to 75,000 CFM.
The
design guidelines were set so tightly. That the TMI
design team was required to included the steel support
structure of the building as part of the air handling
units. Many units swallowed existing steel columns.
This is a prime example of TMI committing to any requirements
set forth by the customer.
The
testing requirements were also a pre-requisite prior
to customer acceptance. These units were tested in
a full array of procedures; from leakage pressures
in both the positive and negative aspects, velocity
confirmation, vibration testing and sound testing
levels. Testing was conducted both at the factory
upon the completion of fabrication, and at the jobsite
upon completion of installation.
